ok so you know where im planning on going the following list highlights the aims and objectives of the trip, im not going alone i will be part of a group and so it is for the most part a group objective.
o To track endangered wildlife through African landscape and research the effect of cattle grazing, hunting, and poaching in the Kilombero Valley.
o I will be gathering information on biodiversity and natural resources, with a focus on large mammal populations.
o I will be tracking the movements of such mammals and compiling detailed species inventories.
o I will have the opportunity to improve local people’s lives by, contributing to plans that structure the use of the Valley’s resources for long-term sustainability. Effectively improving the local population’s access to life giving resources.
o The team as a whole will be conferring the rights to local people to allocate areas for agriculture, to help reduce pressures on the local population.
o We will be educating locals in conservation to help protect and preserve the Tanzanian wildlife.
o Our work will be used in part to influence commercial forestry decisions by demonstrating the importance of saving certain areas through education in the wildlife.
why do i want to go?
like most students i would like to go travelling but ive always wanted to be able to do that bit more then just take in the scenery to me this is an opportunity to take part in something that will make a bit of a difference. I am also really looking forward to seeing Africa friends have been and done the tourist thing and have tols me you come back changed and i want the challenge to have to rough it for a month i want to see if i can do it.
